Quick answers to the common questions. Can't find yours? Contact us at [TODO: support email placeholder].
How do I create a house and add rooms?+
From your dashboard, click Create house and give it a nickname like "The Beach House".
New houses start with a pre-filled list of common rooms (Main Room, Bedroom, Bathroom, Kitchen, Garage, Garden). You can rename, delete or add rooms at any time from the house page.
How do I invite a co-owner?+
Open the house, go to Settings, and find the Team section. Enter their email and tap Invite co-owner.
They'll get an invite link by email. If they already have a RenoMaster account, the house appears on their dashboard automatically; if they're new, the link takes them to sign up with that email pre-filled.
Once accepted, they get full edit access to that house — rooms, tasks, documents, items, photos and the colour palette.
Pending invites are listed in the Team section, where you can copy the link again or cancel the invite.
How do I invite a tradesman, and what can they see?+
Open the house and use the Tradesmen panel: pick Add from Directory to find a registered tradie, or + Add Tradesman to invite someone new with just a name and email.
You nominate specific rooms for each tradesman. They can only see and edit those rooms — never the whole house or your other houses.
Once they register and accept, you can assign them to tasks in their nominated rooms.
How does receipt scanning work?+
Upload a photo or PDF of a receipt. Our AI reads it and extracts the vendor, date, total and line items.
You then review the extracted data, fix anything that looks wrong, and assign each line item to a room and category. Items are created automatically from the receipt.
The original file is always kept, so you can go back and check it any time.
How do I fix incorrect data extracted from a receipt?+
Open the document from the Receipts & uploaded items panel. Every extracted field — vendor, date, total, GST, line items — is editable on the review screen, shown alongside the original scan.
Save keeps your changes but leaves the document marked for review. Confirm saves and marks it as final. Either way, items you create use your corrected values, not the raw AI output.
Use Split line items to turn the extracted lines into individual item records, each assignable to a room and category.
How do I upload and view floorplans?+
Open the house and go to Settings. In the house details section you can upload a floorplan image or PDF.
Once uploaded, the floorplan can be viewed from the same Settings screen. Uploading a new file replaces the old one.
How do tradesmen register and complete their profile?+
When an owner invites a tradesman, they receive a signup link tied to their email address.
They set a password using that same email, and their account is automatically linked to the existing tradie profile — no duplicates.
They can then complete their profile (contact details, trade, portfolio photos) so they appear in the directory.
Are tradies reviewed or verified before they can join the directory?+
No. RenoMaster does not vet, verify, or endorse tradespeople listed in the directory — including their licensing, qualifications, or insurance.
It's the homeowner's responsibility to check these credentials (such as public liability insurance) themselves before engaging a tradie's services.
How do I remove a member or tradesman from a house?+
To remove a co-owner, open the house Settings and use Remove access next to their name in the Team section. To remove a tradie, use the Tradesmen panel and choose Remove next to their name.
Removing access only breaks the link to that house — their account and the house itself are untouched, and any tasks assigned to them become unassigned.
The change is enforced on the server, so the house disappears from their dashboard immediately and they can't reach it by direct link. The primary owner of a house can't be removed.
